3 Tips for Being a Great Brand Ambassador

My name is Scott ( @scottcbakken) and I’m the Content Lead for Champlain. I’m also a photographer and creator who’s had the privilege of working with brands like Amex, GMC, Meta, and WestJet. My career has taken me around the world, capturing experiences and destinations for tourism boards and global campaigns.

Now, with Champlain, my focus is helping build and grow our online presence, while also connecting with ambassadors who truly embody the Champlain brand and lifestyle. I am introducing a monthly series empowering you as an ambassador for Champlain and how you can strengthen all your brand partnerships.

3 Tips on Being a Great Brand Ambassador
  1. Be an ambassador in real life.
It’s easy to post online when there’s payment or partnership involved. But the best ambassadors are those who naturally live and breathe the brand. They’re the ones sharing the story over coffee with friends, introducing it around the dinner table, and feeling a sense of pride when others discover it. A real connection can’t be faked—brands can always tell who’s genuinely invested versus who’s just chasing free product.
  2. Share authentically—even without payment.
True ambassadors understand the value of authentic, unpaid sharing. Brands notice when you naturally include them in your life, and it often opens the door to long-term partnerships. At this stage, you’re not chasing opportunities—you’re inviting brands into your world and creating space for them to dream with you. Try creating something great and tagging a brand. You might just get their attention!
  3. Put your best foot forward.
A strong ambassador doesn’t give a brand their leftovers—they present their best work. This shows respect for the relationship and elevates the collaboration. When you treat the partnership with care and creativity, you create opportunities for growth, trust, and more doors to open.
CONCLUSION
If you want to work with a brand, ask yourself first: Do I truly love this brand? That’s where great partnerships start.

And for our current Champlain ambassadors, I encourage you to ask: How does Champlain make you feel? How can you share that connection in a way that’s real, authentic, and sincere?

Thanks everyone for choosing Champlain and helping us grow and share our story. We truly value having you a part of the Champlain journey.
